Exhibit of the Month: The Cider Mill!
Step into the tradition of fall harvest at our Cider Mill Exhibit, where children can experience the process of turning apples into cider through imaginative, hands-on play. Young learners get the chance to grind, press, and collect pretend apple cider, exploring how simple machines and teamwork turn raw fruit into a tasty treat.
This exhibit encourages problem-solving, cause-and-effect thinking, and fine motor skills while fostering an appreciation for agriculture and food production. As kids work together to “make cider,” they also practice important social and communication skills that support early learning.
By combining STEAM concepts with dramatic play, the Cider Mill helps children connect everyday experiences with larger ideas like the life cycle of food, sustainability, and community traditions. It’s a space where play, learning, and discovery flow as smoothly as fresh cider!
