What payment methods are accepted at the Museum?
We accept a variety of payment options, including cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card, American Express, and CMOO gift cards.
When is the museum closed?
The museum is closed every Monday, additionally we observe the following holidays: Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.

Can I buy a membership?
Absolutely! The Children’s Museum of Oswego offers a variety of membership options to suit your family’s needs. Where should I park?
There are several parking options within one block of the museum. Visitors may park either in the City lot on Water Street (behind the museum) or in the lot behind Canal Commons. There is also ample street parking on Cayuga Street and West Second Street. The parking spaces in front of the Museum are available for visitors to use, but please be aware that they have a 2 hour limit.
What age range is CMOO designed for?
While every child’s interests and preferences are unique, CMOO is generally designed for children ages 0-12. You know your child best, so we encourage you to consider their individual interests to determine if the museum is a good fit.
Is the Museum equipped for visitors with disabilities and special needs?
Yes, the Children’s Museum of Oswego is designed to be accessible for everyone. We have an elevator providing access to the second floor, and all our restrooms are wheelchair-friendly. Our exhibit spaces are thoughtfully designed to accommodate diverse needs. The museum is an open-concept design that can be loud on busy days, at the front desk we can loan you a pair of brightly colored , noise muffling headphones to wear during their visit for visitors with sound sensitivities.
Why do you charge for adults?
The museum encourages interactive play between children and their adults. We also take visitor safety seriously and supervising adults help ensure their children are enjoying the exhibits and facility safely.
Is outside food permitted in the Museum? Is there food available on-site?
To maintain a clean and allergen-free environment, outside food is not allowed inside the museum. However, you can bring a snack to enjoy in our lobby. there are also several parks within walking distance if you prefer to have your snack outdoors- just ask a staff member for directions!
CMOO does not offer food for sale, but there are many restaurants and cafes nearby, including Sherry’s Downtown Diner located in our building. Feel free to ask our front desk staff for recommendations!
Can I breastfeed at the Museum?
Yes, absolutely. Nursing mothers are welcome to breastfeed in any part of the Children’s Museum of Oswego. We encourage you to do what feels most comfortable for you and your child.
Is stroller use allowed in the exhibit areas?
Due to the limited space and interactive nature of the Children’s Museum of Oswego, we kindly request that strollers be parked in our designated area on the first floor, except under special circumstances. This helps keep the exhibit areas accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Is it possible to visit the Museum as an adult without a child?
For the comfort of all our guests, adults must have a child with them to access CMOO. If you’re curious about the museum, stop by the admissions desk and identify yourself. If staff members are available, we’d be glad to give you a tour.
How is the Museum funded?
As a non-profit organization, CMOO depends on generous support from individuals, businesses, foundations, and grants to sustain its operations. Revenue from admissions, birthday parties, and similar activities covers only 40-50% of our financial needs, making donations essential to our continued success.
