At the Children’s Museum of Oswego, we believe that early literacy is the foundation for lifelong learning—and it’s never too early to start! Reading with children under the age of five plays a crucial role in their cognitive development, social-emotional skills, and critical thinking, all of which support STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning.

To help bridge the early literacy gap, CMOO is excited to introduce Storytime with Miss Kristine, a weekly interactive reading hour designed for our littlest explorers under age five! But why is early reading so important?

Bridging the Literacy Gap with Storytime at CMOO

To support early literacy and cognitive development, CMOO is launching Storytime with Miss Kristine—a weekly interactive reading hour designed specifically for our youngest learners!

What to Expect:

  • Engaging Read-Alouds: Interactive storytelling that builds comprehension and listening skills.
  • Sensory & STEAM-Inspired Play: Hands-on activities that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
  • Music & Movement: Singing and rhythm-based activities that support language and motor skill development.
  • Social Connection: A welcoming environment where children can develop communication skills and make new friends.

By integrating reading into play-based learning, we are giving children the tools they need to think critically, experiment, and explore the world around them. We can’t wait to share the joy of reading with our community’s youngest learners—join us and be part of the adventure!
