There are several parking options within one block of the museum. Visitors may park either in the City lot on Water Street (behind the museum) or in the lot behind Canal Commons. There is also ample street parking on Cayuga Street and West Second Street. The parking spaces in front of the Museum are available for visitors to use, but please be aware that they have a 2 hour limit.

What ages is the Museum for?

Every child is different in their interests and preferences so while you know your child best, in general, CMOO is geared for ages 0-12.

Is the Museum accessible for differently-abled and disabled individuals and visitors with special needs?

Yes, we have an elevator that reaches the second floor of the museum. All of our bathrooms are accessible. Our exhibit galleries were designed with accessibility in mind. We have noise reducing headphones for visitors who are sensitive to noise, as well as core communication cards available at the front desk.

Can we bring outside food into the Museum? Is food available?

In an effort to keep the museum clean and allergen-free we do not allow food in the museum. You are welcome to bring a snack to eat in our lobby. There are multiple parks within walking distance if you would like to have your snack outside. Need directions? Ask a staff member!

CMOO does not sell food. There are several restaurants and cafes within walking distance of CMOO, including one in our building, Sherry’s Downtown Diner. Ask our front desk staff, we’d be happy to give you a recommendation!

Do you have a breastfeeding area?

Mothers are welcome to breastfeed in all areas of the museum. We are currently working on a designated nursing room for mothers and babies who prefer a quiet, private setting.

Are strollers allowed?

CMOO is a hands-on museum with limited space. We ask that you utilize our stroller parking area on the first floor and not bring strollers into exhibit areas.

Can I visit the Museum without a child?

For our visitors’ safety, all adults must be accompanied by a child to enter CMOO. Curious what the museum is all about? Please identify yourself at the admissions desk. If we have staff available, we would be happy to give you a tour.

Where does the Museum get its financial support?

CMOO is a non-profit and relies heavily on the donations of individuals, businesses, foundations, and grant funding to continue operations. Operating revenue (admissions, birthday parties, etc.) account for only 40-50% of our finances.
